One final story for Issue #2: "Revolution Time," a communistic time travel story by kibbutznik and young SF phenom, Lavie Tidhar.
Happy New Year!
December 20, 2006
Two more stories just came in: John Shirley's hip and horrific "Cul-de-Sac" and Richard Kadrey's gem-like "Singing the Dead to Sleep."
I'm getting the feeling that I may end up featuring the same authors over and over in Flurb --- think Zap comix or, for that matter, Mad magazine which always featured, "The usual gang of idiots."
Flurb as coterie could be fine. No sweat.
The one thing I'm expecting from Flurb is that it can free up the contributors about the kinds of stories they write. I wouldn't have written "The Third Bomb," for instance, if I hadn't known that Flurb was there for me. And I think this horzon-opening effect has already spilled over to some of my cronies in this issue.
These stories are mostly grim, which clashes a bit with the the holiday season. Oh, well! Think of this Flurb as Grand Guignol entertainment.

So here we go with a new issue of FLURB. I was waiting till I had gotten around to writing a story that would be just about impossible to commercially market, and now I think I've done it. It's liberating to know that FLURB is there for such a demented and counter-cultural tale as "The Third Bomb."
And now I'm also able print Charlie Anders's bisexual romp, "One Door Closes," Charles Stross's curious artifact from the future, "Message in a Time Capsule," Marc Laidlaw's caustic "Open Open Letter."
I may siphon in a couple more stories later this month or early in January, after taking some time off for the holidays.
For now: beware of sea cucumbers, garage door openers, sneezing, hipster publishers, and ... the space demons!
